Number 1 in my Made in Morecambe? series of photographic collages.

Although Morecambe cannot claim to have invented Disco, it does have a claim to being the place where the iconic symbol of disco was invented… The Disco Ball!

Local legend tells how sometime in the 1920’s, the doorman at the stunning Tower Ballroom invented his “Mystic Carnival Lantern” a ball of tiny mirrors to hang over the ballroom floor, to the delight of dancers below. The owner of the Tower Ballroom Lord Harold Addenbrooke, stepped in to fund the patent application and gave the ball a new name – “Addenbrooke’s Kaleidoscopic Globe”. We now it now as The Disco Ball!

Morecambe – Home of The Disco Ball!

The print is a collage of images, including the old Tower Ballroom, ballroom dancers and a disco ball.

Comes with free A6 double-sided postcard featuring this image and #2 in the Made in Morecambe? series… BINGO.
