High Teas & Holidays is a heritage through art project looking at Morecambe’s holiday heyday through the windows of the guesthouses and the eyes of the holiday-makers who stayed in them. The project was conceived by husband and wife team Carol & Johnny Bean.
Johnny is a full-time photographer/arts administrator, with a degree in Film, Video and Photographic Arts and a wealth of photographic experience. Carol has a background in arts marketing, has run her own vintage styling business and is now creating art in her own right. Together, they share an interest in local history, community engagement, vintage ephemera, regeneration through creativity and their hometown Morecambe. High Teas and Holidays pulls all those passions together for one big celebration of Morecambe’s seaside history.
They will be using local stories and memories gathered through research, memory-gathering sessions, old postcards and other sources to inspire the creation of new artworks for the project and lead on community engagement making sessions to make new community-created artworks, a Words on Windows art trail and a touring exhibition/installation.
To deliver the project Johnny & Carol are working with…
