Gettin’ Spooky with Jay Diggins

I met Jay a few months back when local band Sun Giant invited me to their gig at Lancaster’s Grand Theatre, supporting Jay who was launching his new album.
I’d been really having fun shooting local musicians last year for the “Onstage/Offstage” exhibition at the Dukes that I shared with local photographer Pauline Clark. With that in mind I decided it would be fun to carry on and extend that project.
It’s a joy to shoot outside of my normal work, where I’m generally shooting to a brief, and instead do it my own way.
With that in mind, I asked Jay if he would be up for an “Offstage” shoot sometime, and a couple of weeks back he called up and said let’s do it! he had a new set of ‘spooky’ songs he was doing some shows for and so we decided something ‘spooky’ would work well for both our needs. I met jay up by Scorton Church around 4 pm in order to get some some suitably eerie, fading daylight, and after a few shots there we headed up to Scorton picnic site and into the woods to continue the ‘spooky’ mood. I’ve not yet been through all the pics yet if I’m honest, but here’s a few that popped out at me on first scan… waddya think?
