Morecambe Faces: Barrie Marshall

MORECAMBE FACES: A PORTRAIT OF MORECAMBE

It’s going to be great again!”

Barrie Marshall, 2019

Barrie is a retired part-time jazz musician and photographer. He was born in Morecambe and lived there for 37 years, but now resides in nearby Lancaster.

When asked to describe how he feels about Morecambe, his answer is simple… “Love it”!

He was raised in a B&B run by his family in the West End of Morecambe and has a fantastic collection of photographs of the town taken during his years living here in the 60’s and 70’s. He has some great memories to share, but you’ll have to wait for another occasion to hear them, as he was keeping quiet about them this week when I asked!

He is watching keenly as Morecambe now rides a wave of creative resurgence and feels sure “it’s going to be great again!

Morecambe Artist Colony hope to bring an exhibition of Barrie’s photos to the Stone Jetty Cafe in Morecambe later this year.
